Prologue




just like any decent burial, this book is a lie

I drag symbols out of the earth 

and scatter their petals

over a hole in the ground

she is not in that hole

she does not exist

but I do not know where else to put her

I do not know her

I only know what happened to her, 

and I do not even know that

everything here is true, 

nothing here is true

it’s just all I can tell you

I look for peace and I find none

hence, the petals
